<p>Two floors up, the windows do most of the talking. Rooftops give way to the ridge, the ridge to the valley, and on a clear morning the mountains sit right at the edge of the glass, close enough to feel like part of the room.</p><p> </p><p>Inside, the mood is quietly British. Ivory walls warmed by oak detailing and classic panelled trim, brass-toned lamps on either side of the bed, layered bedding turned back over a spring mattress. Both bedrooms are generously sized and identically appointed, each with a king-sized bed and a bathroom of its own, so the morning routine never needs negotiating.</p><p> </p><p>Between them lies the lounge, wide enough for eight across two sofa sets even when only four are staying. Heaters take the chill out of the hill air, music carries softly from the speakers, and the dining table alongside means meals happen exactly where everybody already is.</p><p> </p><p>Food arrives without anybody lifting a pan. The in-house chef prepares fresh vegetarian meals throughout the day, from breakfast while the mist is still lifting to dinner once the hillside lights have come on.
