High on the second floor of a stone hill house above Manuh village, this home looks straight out at the Himalayan range. Kali Ka Tibba rises on one side, the Sirmaur and Dharo Ki Dhar valleys fall away on the other, and pine forest closes in around the property. Solan sits eight kilometres down the road, near enough for a morning errand, far enough that none of its noise reaches this ridge.
Both master bedrooms are unusually generous at 300 sq.ft. each, dressed in the English idiom the house is known for, with king-sized beds, wooden accents and heaters standing ready for the drop in temperature after sundown. Each one opens onto its own balcony, and the hills fill the frame from the moment the curtains go back. A third room sits under the eaves in the attic, a snug extra space children tend to claim within minutes of arrival.
The living room runs to 500 sq.ft. on the same floor, with sofa seating for six, music playing softly and heaters keeping the evening chill at the door. Meals are taken downstairs in the restaurant and the common dining hall, where the in-house kitchen serves vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes from a menu throughout the day.
Below and around, the property widens into shared ground. The hall converts easily for a birthday, a small conference or a celebration; a full-sized pool table keeps the evenings going, and an open rooftop bar catches the last of the light on the ridge. Outdoors, a 1,000 sq.ft. natural lawn opens up with a gazebo for slower conversations, a play area for children and sports equipment for the afternoons.
It suits families, groups of friends and couples after an unhurried mountain break with room to spread out. Riva Waterfall and Shilli Wildlife Sanctuary lie within five kilometres, while Mohan Shakti Temple, Maa Shoolini Temple and Jatoli Temple are short drives away.
